Erick is a first generation Mexican-American film director, writer, photographer, and creative producer born and based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

He’s driven by stories about individual identity, psychological struggles, class systems, and culture. His aim is to craft stories that encapsulate the honesty of the human experience by means of sharing individual struggles, the hope that comes in triumph and communal healing, and the understanding of the grey areas that exist within our understanding and judgement of the world, and people.

Erick currently works independently and with a variety production companies such as CHIFA, Bond Studio, So&Co., etc. and typically engages in creative direction for commercials and branded documentary work.

He also specializes in creative direction for brands, tying their identity into production through thoughtful brand storytelling, tone setting, and campaign development.

Erick’s current focus is completing his feature film “Tigre” for The Bay List—a personal story set in California about the overlooked topic of generational trauma, tiger-parenting, and its continual influence into children’s and adults growth cycles in Mexican and American culture. Think “Whiplash” in terms of the teacher-student relations (except it’s father and son in “Tigre”) and think “Moonlight” in terms of cinematography style, and the 3-Act chapter structure (Act 1 as the character as a young boy, Act 2 as a teen, and Act 3 as an adult). Set in the time span of 25 years, “Tigre” tackles the question “can generational trauma be overcome?”
